Amber Champange, CSW
Amber recently received her Master’s in Social Work from Weber State University. With her level of empathy and compassion for others, there is no question that social work is her calling. Amber’s own lived experiences is what led her into the field of therapy and she utilizes her empathy in these areas to create a safe space for healing and transformation.
Amber began her career working with individuals and families who are primary and secondary survivors of domestic violence. Amber also has experience working with individuals and families who were suffering from an emergent mental health crises. Amber has a strong desire to help the female population, but is passionate about helping any vulnerable population.
Amber received trauma-focused training, which is essential in helping children, adolescents and adults modify negative, unhelpful thoughts, emotions and behaviors that result from traumatic experiences. She also is certified in crisis intervention, which focuses on prevention and equips individuals with proven strategies for safety defusing anxious, hostile, or violent behaviors at the earliest possible stage.
In order to maintain my own positive mental health, I carve a little time out of each day for myself. Self-care is imperative for managing my stress levels, lowering the risk of burnout and increasing my motivation levels. I also view myself as my very best friend, which helps boost my self-compassion and self-love as well as leads to healthier relationships.
I absolutely enjoy anything outdoors. There is something so rejuvenating about getting lost in the mountains with no cell service. Over the years, I have grown a sick love for running and have participated in dozens of local events including Ragnar and Spartan. When I have down time, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends.
"When human beings experience trauma or life stressors, it is not uncommon for their lives to unravel. To strengthen and empower my clients, I provide hope through a client-centered, holistic approach. This approach helps clients with self-exploration to navigate their own experiences and adopt healthier perceptions of themselves. Building healthy relationships with my clients is a top priority, which helps build a strong working alliance and ultimately translates to more efficient and effective outcomes. I wholeheartedly believe that as clients gain greater self-awareness, they are empowered to make the changes they want for themselves."
